Almost all of the castle dates from the period of the Armenian kingdom, the main possible exceptions being a vaulted entrance corridor which could be a Mamluk-era (i.e., post 1375) construction and which carries an Arabic inscription, and, beyond this corridor and at the rear of the Armenian-constructed main entrance, a simpler gateway that may have been the original Byzantine entrance to the site.

Gaziantep Castle, is a castle first built by the Hittite Empire as an observation point and later built into a main castle by the Roman Empire on top of a hill in the center of Gaziantep, Turkey in 2nd and 3rd century AD. It underwent further expansion and renovation under Emperor Justinianus between 527 and 565 AD.

Pertek Castle is a castle in the Pertek district of the Tunceli province in Turkey. It was built in the 11th century by the Seljukid Mengujekids beys. Under the Ottoman Empire it was restored and rebuilt, probably in the 16th century.
